With the engine rebuilt, it had to go back into Renko on new adjustable mounts and be lined up with the propeller shaft. These are the videos in the order they were made, starting with shortening the engine brackets so adjustable Polyflex engine mounts could be added.
Preparing the engine bay
Getting the engine bay ready for the engine to go back in.
Craning it into the boat
Towing Renko back to the mainland to crane the engine back in.
New engine shims
Making and installing a new set of steel engine shims to raise the engine up on the rails.
Positioning the engine
Welding in gussets to support the overhanging engine mount, then getting the engine roughly into position.
Coarse alignment
Adding jacking screws to the engine mount shims and roughly aligning the engine with the propeller shaft.
Better alignment
A finer alignment of the engine, cleaning up the shutoff solenoid, and plumbing in the fuel lines.
First start in the boat
Bolting up the propeller shaft flange, connecting the controls and starting the engine in the boat for the first time.
Spinning the prop
Finishing the raw water plumbing, then putting the engine in gear to spin the propeller.
First sea trial
A finer alignment and a short sea trial.
Machined flange and alignment
The sea trial showed a vibration in the gearbox, so Renko went to Coast Marine. She comes back with a machined propeller shaft flange, an internal spigot and a better alignment.
